The Mind Body Project – Daily Check Ins

When is the last time you did something different for yourself that allowed you to be present in the moment? When didn’t you feel rushed or anxious about what has to happen or your next to-do list?  We have become a society that constantly needs to be doing something from the time we wake up until our head hits the pillow. Social media has amplified this by connecting us to people, games, and other apps. It seems the more we are connected by social media the less time we have to concern ourselves with the direction of our lives or what is going on within and/or around us. It is though we put our lives on hold and disconnected from our authentic selves. So how do we get back to ourselves and our purpose? How do we put the brakes on to slow down the slippery slope of busyness?

You will be happy to know you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on a vacation or use all your leave time from work. One of the methods to connecting to yourself is to do a daily dial in. Just like you dial a friend you can take time out to dial your own number. You can check in with yourself and connect to your mind, body & spirit without going anywhere but your own office or home. How would you feel  taking a few minutes out of your day to do nothing but breath, stretch or meditate?  Do you think you could stop everything you are doing and take a few minutes for yourself?

Today I took twenty minutes to do some basic yoga moves and some intentional breathing.  Usually I go in with the intent of doing yoga as a workout but today I choose to do it as a daily dial in to myself. What I rediscovered is that the yoga and breathing took me away from my wandering distracting thoughts. I was truly at peace as I focused on connecting the movement with breath.  I was in the present moment and it has been a while since I abided in a place of peace and relaxation.  I also discovered its been a long time since I stretched my muscles and maybe my muscles needed more of daily stretching. I didn’t have these light bulb moments while I was doing the yoga and breathing. It is when I stopped I realized just how much my mind spins like a top.

I decided I was going to challenge myself to 7 days of a daily dial ins once I realized just how much mind is constantly chattering. I decided I was gong to be my own friend and take care of myself by dialing in to my mind, body and spirit and connecting these entities, so I am nourished and whole. Wouldn’t you like to be more relaxed and centered.  If so, please join me in the seven days of dial ins and discover your true authentic self.
